The Senior's second round debate is That the parents of Alfie Evans should have had control over his medical treatment. This topic needs to be explained and, both sides need to steer clear of using loaded language.
Loaded words are a fallacy of thought! They are words that attempt to influence an audience through the use of an appeal to emotions or stereotypes. These words have strong emotive connections and are bound to moral values and judgements. They don't help to form well-reasoned arguments.
Loaded words can include phrases that have strong positive or negative reactions beyond their literal meaning. For example, the term tax-relief refers literally to changes to reduce the total amount of tax citizens must pay. However, use of the emotive word relief implies that all tax is an unreasonable burden, to begin with!
We'd strongly recommend purchasing our Fallacies document to ensure you don't fall into this trap! #debate #debatingsa ... See MoreSee Less
