This training is for adjudicators seeking to adjudicate Year 10 and Senior division (Years 11 and 12) debates. Participants must have already undertaken Primary School Adjudicator Training and Year 8/9 Adjudicator Training.
A definition debate is one where the two teams disagree on the meaning of the topic. This type of debate is often complex and confusing for debaters. In this practical hands-on seminar we will present you with the opportunity to engage with and discuss strategies around how to handle this kind of debate.

Every debate has two sides – you just need to have the right skills and techniques to approach the topic. This workshop will guide participants through the process of preparing a short preparation debate, in the allocated 90 minutes. At the conclusion of the preparation time, students will have the opportunity to debate and/or discuss their prepared arguments with our team of expert adjudicators. It is strongly recommended that students attend as debating teams to get the authentic preparation experience.
