Debating SA is celebrating 35 years of debating in South Australia with a special anniversary event at the Adelaide Town Hall.
On Sunday 18 October 2026, Debating SA will join ABC Radio Adelaide for the Sonya & Jules Gr8-9-1 Debate, bringing together some familiar South Australian personalities for an afternoon of argument, persuasion and good humour.
ABC Radio Adelaide presenters Sonya Feldhoff and Jules Schiller will lead opposing teams as they put their debating skills to the test.
The event forms part of Debating SA’s 35th anniversary celebrations, marking more than three decades of providing young South Australians with opportunities to develop their ideas, communicate persuasively and engage seriously with different perspectives.
Since 1991, thousands of students have taken part in Debating SA competitions. While much has changed over those 35 years, the purpose remains much the same: giving young people the confidence and skills to think deeply, speak confidently and engage with ideas.
We believe those skills matter well beyond the debating room.
Debating is preparation for life.
